It’s so enjoyable and satisfying to be able to paint a furry or feathery (or scaly) family loved one, whether as a gift or to enjoy yourself and that’s what this workshop is all about.
You’ll learn some secrets to capturing a good likeness and some other important factors in making your portraits seem more realistic.
The first day we’ll finish the thin under painting and put in the darkest and lightest values making what will work as a value map for when we lay in our thicker colors the next day.
We’ll also work out the likeness but don’t worry if your drawing skills are rusty, I have a few tricks that will work wonders with your human subjects too.
On day two we’ll work the top layer in thicker paint pushing the dark values darker and the lights lighter while adjusting the colors and temperature.
But we’re always watching that likeness, it is a portrait after all! Pet portraits are so rewarding to paint, I hope you’ll join us.
